As the church works to decolonize and fully embody its commitment to collective liberation, being in right relationship with Episcopalians of color is imperative. This webinar will share experiences of creating sacred space for people of color in relation to the dominant culture structures of The Episcopal Church. Hear about the grassroots organization, truth-telling, and collaborative self-determination of the Circles of Color in the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia, as well as ways dioceses are supporting the intersectionality of racial justice and care of creation. Other stories and subversive strategies from multicultural and Indigenous experiences of The Episcopal Church will be shared.

Last October, over 90 full-hearted and courageous leaders gathered in Los Angeles to explore new ways of planting, nurturing, and renewing church communities. We shared in rich conversation, networking, worship, and exploration… and we enjoyed it so much that we want to do it again!

Please join us at our host church, Grace Episcopal, in Yukon, Oklahoma, May 13-16 as we continue this ever-deepening journey of practicing new possibilities for the sake of love!

We are intentionally making this event smaller, so that there is space to focus even more on the opportunities, challenges, and learning that are important to you. Space is limited to 30 participants, so register soon!

Each year, the Office of Young Adult and Campus Ministries hosts a Leadership Conference in June. This annual conference is an opportunity for Episcopal leaders in ministry with young adults (ages 18-30) on and off college campuses to meet and connect with one another and to be nourished and nurtured in their ministry.

We are thrilled to have our conference at St. Asaph’s Episcopal Church which is a 5-10 minute walk from the Philadelphia Hilton (where we have a block of rooms if you choose to stay there).

Our hope is that the participants will:

  • find rest and sanctuary since we have been struggling hard and carrying heavy loads
  • connect and reconnect with colleagues involved in ministry
  • be better equipped to engage young adults where they live, work and study
  • learn from one another and share resources
  • build upon their skills and networks to assist them in ministry
  • leave feeling that they have feasted at the table and are ready to do the work God has called them to do

Conference participants – both leaders who are new to this work as well as those who have longstanding roots in this ministry – will hear from speakers, focus on intentional conversations, build relationships, and learn from one another.

Contact the Rev. Shannon Kelly, Officer for Young Adult and Campus Ministries and Grant Director for the Camino Project for more information.

Registration is open through May 1 for Nuevo Amanecer (“New Dawn”) 2024, a popular biennial gathering that celebrates Latino ministries across The Episcopal Church. The June 3-6 event is co-hosted by the Office of Latino/Hispanic Ministries and Kanuga, a retreat center near Hendersonville, North Carolina.

This churchwide event includes training for church leadership and formation, as well as time for renewal and networking. In addition to lay leaders, clergy, diocesan missioners, parish staff, and church planters, those interested in learning about Latino ministries are also encouraged to attend. The conference welcomes families and offers special activities for children and youth. Programming is offered bilingually through simultaneous interpretation, so that no one is left out and nothing is repeated.

This year’s theme is “Sowing Love and Hope.” Scheduled keynote speakers include the Rt. Rev. David Rice, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin; House of Deputies President Julia Ayala Harris; and the Rev. Anthony Guillén, missioner for Latino/Hispanic Ministries. Presiding Bishop Michael Curry will preach at the opening Eucharist.

On the first Wednesday of each month, racial justice leaders and practitioners from dioceses throughout The Episcopal Church gather to discuss pressing issues, exchange best practices, and illuminate the diverse ministries making an impact across our church. This monthly gathering is designed to be a sanctuary for ideas, strategies, and mutual support. Our next meeting will be June 5, 2024.

This month’s online seminar will feature Guy Hewitt, the Archbishop of Canterbury’s adviser and director of racial justice for the Church of England.

This gathering is more than just a meeting; it is a beacon of hope and solidarity. Together, let us harness our collective strength and wisdom.
